52 Hz Whale

Often called the loneliest whale in the world, the 52 Hz whale is a real animal whose call is made at a frequency no other whale can hear. While it would be easy to render this story as somber, I chose instead to approach it playfully: the whale moves through a pastel sea of starlight, not suffering in isolation, but dancing within its own freedom. It does not know connection, so can it miss it? The work explores beauty as an act of acceptance and choice. Sometimes we cannot change our circumstances, but we can still choose how we move through them, and find beauty in the world regardless.
